UK Tube Staff to Hold Second Strike

30 September 2010

About 200 maintenance workers on London Underground's network will hold a second 24-hour strike next week over pay, the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) workers union said.

Alstom-Metro tube train staff on the Jubilee and Northern lines will begin the strike on 4 October, with further strikes scheduled for 3 November and 29 November this year.

An indefinite overtime ban also began on 5 September and will remain in force.

The RMT union and Transport Salaried Staffs Association have held the first strike on 6 September this year, following the failure of talks over job cuts.

The strike has been held following London Underground's refusal to withdraw plans to cut 800 station jobs and close ticket offices.
