Siemens-Led Consortium to Supply Signalling Systems to Algeria

A Siemens-led consortium has received an order to supply signaling systems for freight traffic routes in Algeria as part of the nation's rail network modernisation plan.
The consortium includes German-Algerian railway automation specialist ESTEL Rail Automation, and Algeria-based telecommunications supplier Infratele.
The consortium is delivering the €27m ($35m) contract for the Algerian national railway investment agency, ANESRIF.
Work involves installing the systems on four stations along the 43km railway line between the industrial centre of Senia and the port of Arzew in Algeria, which will be in operation by 2012.
Siemens Mobility will supply the Trainguard 100 train control system, the Vicos automatic operations control system and Simis W electronic interlockings.
The consortium will also supply the power supply facilities and train the maintenance staff of ANESRIF in operating and servicing the technology.
