The upgrade of the London Overground network has reached its final phases following the commissioning of re-signalling work, according to Transport for London (TfL).
The work is part of an upgrade project to increase capacity on the services and involves the installation of new systems and the refurbishment of stations.
The project aims to see more than 200 signals, 7km of track and 69 sets of points improved and 30 station platforms lengthened.
Once the upgrade is complete by May 2011, London Overground plans to run frequent services with longer trains with enhanced capacity.
London Overground is the suburban network of rail services in London managed by TfL and has been operated by London Overground Rail Operations since 2007 as part of the National Rail network.
