22 September 2010

A train accident which occurred on 20 September in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has killed over 23 passengers, and left over 50 more injured.

The accident took place at 4.45am, when a goods train hit the waiting Indore-Gwalior Inter-City Express at Badarwas railroad station, in the state's Shivpuri district.

A preliminary inquiry has revealed the goods train had been running on the wrong track and overshot a red signal due to low visibility caused by heavy rains.
