BART Approves Contract for US Airport Connector Project

22 September 2010

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) board in the US has approved the award of a contract to design, operate and maintain the proposed Oakland airport connector.

The $484m project will provide an improved transit connection between Oakland Airport and BART's Coliseum Station.

Following final approval by the California Transportation Commission for the allocation of $20m for the project, BART will sign the contract with the two firms.

The project will begin later this year and is scheduled to be complete in three-and-a-half years.
