21 September 2010

Survey work on the Redcliffe railway in the Australian state of Queensland will start in October.

The federal government has allotted A$742m (US$695.7m) for the Petrie to Kippa Ring line, which extends 27.5km north-northwest from the Brisbane central business district (CBD).

The express rail line will provide 20,000 trips a day in about 45min.

Construction of the rail line is expected to begin in 2012 and could take four years to complete, according to brisbanetimes.com.au.

The federal government will offer A$300m (US$281m), while the Moreton Bay Regional Council will provide A$105m (US$98.4m).
