China Inks Deal with US Council for HSR

20 September 2010

China has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Bay Area Council for the proposed high-speed rail system in the US state of California.

Under the MOU, the council will provide assistance and consultancy services to China's ministry of railways and other companies.

The council will also assist China in finding partners in California for competing on high-speed rail bids, according to Bloomberg.

The US has invited China to invest in the state in terms of financing and in bidding to build the $40bn high-speed rail between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Bay Area Council is a business-sponsored, public-policy advocacy organisation in California.
