Australia Begins Light Rail Study

14 September 2010

The Australian Government has begun a detailed transport study to identify the preferred route for a light rail project through Sydney's central business district from Central to Circular Quay.

The study is the next step in the roll-out of Sydney's A$500m (US$463m) light rail expansion and part of the government's ten-year Metropolitan Transport Plan.

Architectural firm Cox Group will assist Parsons Brinkerhoff with the study, which will assess the impact of light rail on the city.

The study, being delivered by Transport NSW in conjunction with the City of Sydney, will be completed by the end of the year and will include consultation with key business and stakeholder groups.
