Network Rail Submits Plan for UK Station Upgrade

13 September 2010

Network Rail has submitted a planning application for an island platform with a footbridge and lifts at Cambridge station in England.

The application is part of train operator National Express East Anglia's project to improve train services on the West Anglia line between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street station.

The project also plans to run 12-car trains by December 2011.

Under the plan, platforms are being extended at Royston, Hertfordshire, to upgrade the Cambridge-King's Cross line.
