Australian Company Enters Bulk Rail Haulage Market

13 September 2010

SCT Logistics has created a company in Australia as part of its move into the bulk rail haulage sector by securing a contract with IMX Resources.

Specialised Bulk Rail (SBR) will enter the bulk rail market in October with the responsibility of iron ore haulage for IMX.

SBR will run four 4500HP AC locomotives on the 900km route between IMX's Cairn Hill mine, south-east of Coober Pedy in South Australia, and Port Adelaide.

It is estimated that the first stage of the IMX contract will generate $150m for SBR, while the second stage could generate twice that, according to supplychainreview.com.au.
