08 September 2010

Bombardier Transportation has received an order for 100 MultiLevel commuter rail cars from the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) in the US.

The $267m (€210m) contract also has an option for supplying an additional 79 vehicles.

The cars feature upper and lower seating levels and a comfortable intermediate level at each end, with 15-30% more seating capacity for each coach.

They also feature large side doors located at the intermediate level to provide accessibility from high and low-level platforms.

NJ Transit is the largest state-wide public transportation system in the US.
