US State Unveils Plans to Expand Rail Service

08 September 2010

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in the US has unveiled plans to expand passenger rail service in the region.

The department has selected two alternative proposals following extensive public consultations: a night time service between Newton and Fort Worth, and a daytime service between Kansas City and Fort Worth.

Transportation consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff will compile the development plan for each alternative, which is expected to be completed next year.

The states of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas are expected to fund the rail service once an alternative is selected.
