German Railway to Test High-Speed Rail

06 September 2010

German rail operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) will test a high-speed train in the Channel Tunnel between France and Britain on 19 October.

The ICE train will be allowed to run through the tunnel, which is usually reserved for the Eurostar.

DB plans to run a high-speed rail link from London to the German city of Frankfurt, according to AFP.

The company is also looking to expand its services in Europe; however its expansion plans in France have met with resistance from the French national railway SNCF.
