03 September 2010

Rapiscan Systems has been awarded a contract by a railway operator in Eastern Europe to provide rail inspection scanners.

The company will supply the Eagle Rail inspection scanner while providing associated construction and civil works as part of the $5m contract.

The company said the Eagle transmission X-ray cargo and vehicle inspection systems can scan railcars and increase train security and maximise operational effectiveness.

The technologies utilised in the systems range from X-ray and Gamma-ray imaging to advanced threat-identification techniques, such as neutron and diffraction analysis.
