The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in the US plans to put the first batch of its Silverliner V cars into service by October.
The transportation authority will receive 120 rail cars at a cost of $274m, with final delivery expected by June 2011.
The Silverliners will feature digital screens, which will display advertising and schedule announcements.
United Transit Systems, a consortium of Hyundai-Rotem and US-based Sojitz Corporation, will deliver the rail cars, which are being built in South Korea.
The delivery of the cars has been delayed because the company was plagued by a range of production problems, according to bizjournals.com.
