Deutsche Bahn Completes Arriva Takeover

31 August 2010

Deutsche Bahn (DB) has completed the acquisition of UK-based Arriva in a deal valued at ВЈ1.6bn ($2.5bn).

Arriva will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of DB UK Holdings.

The railway operator will conduct its regional passenger transport activities outside Germany under the Arriva brand.

DB will divest Arriva's German businesses as one package, as required by the European Commission, within the coming months.

Arriva's business in Germany is operated separately from DB and the company cannot obtain any confidential information about Arriva's German business.
