DART Approves Light-Rail Service

26 August 2010

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in the US has approved plans to extend light-rail service to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport by 2014, according to the agency's 20-year financial plan released this month.

The service was on hold following a financial review which determined that DART had overestimated its sales tax receipts for the next two decades.

The proposal, however, has been included in this month's plan after the agency diverted funds from other sources.

The agency will connect the light-rail system to Terminal A of the airport with a 4.7-mile Orange Line extension.
