Italian-Thai Could Win Rail Deal

19 August 2010

Thailand's contractor, Italian-Thai Development, could win a contract to build part of Bangkok's blue line mass transit project in the country after outbidding Ch Karnchang.

The contract to build the underground section of the 2.8km rail line comes under the mass transit project, which consists of underground and elevated lines.

The line will stretch from central Hua Lumphong railway station to Bang Khae, and from Bang Sue to Tha Phra, according to Reuters.

Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand deputy governor Chaisit Kururat said the agency is asking Italian-Thai to reduce the bidding price and could enter into a contract with the company in September or October, with construction in November.
