France has opened the 22km Rhonexpress link service from Lyons-Saint Exupery Airport to Lyon.
The €120m ($157m) line will be managed for 30 years by a Vinci-led consortium, which secured the contract in 2007.
The link, with a journey time of 30min, is expected to carry more than one million passengers.
The maximum speed of the train will be 100km/h, according to khl.com.
