Passenger train services between Melbourne and Sydney in Australia have been halted due to track damage caused by a $1bn rail upgrade project.
CountryLink, the country's passenger train services operator, said that services between Albury and Melbourne were cancelled due to speed restrictions levied by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC).
The ARTC reported 52km of speed restrictions along the 307km track in July, which increased by 68% to 208km.
ARTC spokesman Brian Dale said the track work limited train speeds to 60-80km/h, and increased the Albury-Melbourne journey by 90min for CountryLink services.
CountryLink is running a coach service between Albury and Southern Cross Station, according to the theage.com.au.
