Nakeel Appoints Serco to Run UAE Monorail

11 August 2010

Dubai-based developer Nakheel has appointed UK-based Serco to operate the Palm Jumeirah's 5.5km monorail.

Nakheel picked Serco after cancelling a contract with Singaporean rail company SMRT.

The $380m driverless transit system began operations in May 2009.

The monorail runs from the Gateway station on the Dubai mainland to the Atlantis station on the Crescent.
