China's Chengdu Railway Administration has signed a contract with Beijing-based CSR Zhuji to purchase electric locomotives.
Under the CNY8.6bn ($1.27bn) contract, CSR Zhuji will provide 590 units of electric locomotives, of which 170 units will be assumed by CSR Ziyang.
The 7,200kW Hexie Type-1 series locomotive has a 92% localisation rate.
The company is expected to deliver the locomotives within a year.
