Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has ordered 500,000 concrete sleepers from Rocla Concrete Sleepers for its freight rail projects.
The projects involve re-laying the sleepers on the line between Broken Hill and Parkes, according to ARTC.
The sleepers are intended to increase capacity, reduce transit time and prevent any heat-related speed restrictions on the line.
