China to Help Thailand with Rail Projects

03 August 2010

China will invest in the development of Thailand's first high-speed railway system at the Thai-Lao border.

The project will be constructed as a standard-gauge rail link and is expected to cover transport in all countries of the Association of South East Asian Nations.

The Thai rail system already has government funding worth THB170bn ($5.3bn), according to mcot.net.

China will also provide technology and management services for the development of a high-speed rail line from Bangkok to Rayong province.
