Bangladesh and India Finalise Rail Projects

23 July 2010

Bangladesh and India have finalised railway projects funded by a $1bn loan from India.

The projects involve building a $120m bridge over the Titas River, the construction of a $31m overpass at Jurain rail crossing and a flyover at Malibagh rail crossing in Dhaka.

Other purchases include 125 broad gauge passenger coaches for $54m, ten locomotive engines for $36m, 60 tank wagons for $8.85m and 50 flat wagons for $5m.

The countries' finance ministries will sign an agreement to utilise the loan once India's planning ministry gives its final approval, according to thedailystar.net.
