UK City Seeks High-Speed Rail Link

20 July 2010

Members from the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce are seeking a high-speed rail link for the East Midlands, England, UK.

The link could bring benefits of ВЈ4bn ($6bn) to the region's economy and reduce travel time to London by 45 minutes.

The regional high-speed rail link will have trains travelling at speeds of 250mph from London to Birmingham, according to bbc.co.uk.

The UK Government is considering options for phase II, which includes either a single line from Manchester to Birmingham or a Y-shaped network linking the two cities with Leeds.
