Motive to Supply Massachusetts Diesel Trains

19 July 2010

Motive Power has received a $114.63m contract from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the US to supply 20 diesel electric locomotives.

The company's locomotives will facilitate better commuter rail operations, fleet performance and service delivery.

The units, to be supplied within 29 months, will follow Tier 3 emission standards as regulated by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

The MBTA said the acquisition is intended to decrease locomotive emissions and save approximately $1.5m annually through reduced fuel consumption.
