Montreal to Open Bidding for Metro Car Orders

16 July 2010

Canada’s Société de transport de Montréal will call for international tenders for its subway metro cars this year.

The contract, estimated to be worth C$3bn ($2.9bn), will involve the purchase of 765 subway cars with an option to order 288 more.

The transit agency has stipulated that 60% of the cars will be built in Quebec.

A consortium formed by Bombardier and Alstom is competing with CAF for the project, according to cbc.ca.
