Stadler Winterthur Receives Rail Contract

13 July 2010

Stadler Winterthur has received a CHF88m ($84m) contract to deliver 30 electro-diesel locomotives to Switzerland-based SBB Cargo in 2012-13.

The vehicles are expected to replace Type Bm4/4 locomotives and outdated three-axle designs for shunting and light freight duties.

Stadler's twin-axle Eem923 is derived from its 21 electric-only Ee922 locomotives.

The 45t locomotives have a maximum speed of 100km/h, according to railwaygazette.com.
