UK High-Speed Rail Links to be “Freight Friendly”

09 July 2010

High-speed rail links under construction in the UK will be "freight friendly", according to Minister of State for Transport Theresa Villiers.

The links will primarily be used for passenger rail in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Speaking at the Annual Rail Freight Group Conference, Villiers confirmed that the services, particularly those between London and Birmingham, will be capable of supporting rail freight.
