Skanska Wins Norwegian Rail Expansion Contract

07 July 2010

Skanska has received a contract from the Norwegian national rail administration to expand Norway’s railway network.

The project involves extending a double-track railway south-west of Oslo by 3.4km and tunnelling a 1.8km section, which will include 800m of associated service tunnels.

Work on the project is estimated to cost NOK392m ($60m) and will be completed in June 2014, according to the company.

The project is expected to be part of a 12km expansion of the Vestfold Line, which is being designed for train speeds of up to 250km/h.
