Bombardier Wins Metro Car Orders from India

02 July 2010

Bombardier has received an €83m ($101m) contract to deliver 74 metro cars to the Delhi metro rail corporation in India.

The contract also includes an option for an additional 40 cars, according to the Germany-based company.

The vehicles are expected to transport four million passengers a day.

The metros will be developed at Bombardier's new manufacturing site in Savli in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The high-capacity cars are expected to reduce travel time and ease congestion.
