US Seeks Applications for High-Speed Rail Projects

01 July 2010

The US Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) will start accepting applications for $2.1bn in grants to continue the development of high-speed intercity passenger rail corridors.

The FRA will also make available $245m for individual construction projects within the corridor.

The funds will complement the $8bn initial investment announced last January to enhance high-speed rail network in US.

The applications and proposals for the funds will be due by 6 August 2010.

The FRA is expected to grant funding for the projects by 30 September.
