Mongolia to Build Rail Link to Russia

30 June 2010

Mongolia will construct a 1,100km rail line connecting the nation with Russia.

The railway, intended to tap the country's coal deposits, will link Tavan Tolgoi in southern Mongolia with the Russian border.

Mongolia is planning to invite international bidders for the railway's construction, scheduled to be completed in two years.

The railway will use a broad gauge in order to link it with Russia's rail network, according to businessweek.com.
