Shanghai-Nanjing Bullet Train to Begin Operations in July

30 June 2010

The Shanghai-Nanjing intercity high-speed rail line will begin operation on July 1 2010.

Shanghai Railway Bureau said the standard ticket price for the line will be CNY146 ($21.44), which is 56% higher than the fare for the regular-speed trains along the same route.

The bullet train is expected to run at a top speed of 350km per hour, reducing the trip to Nanjing from two hours to 73 minutes.

The 200 new 'G' trains are expected to operate both at Shanghai's Hongqiao Transport Hub and Shanghai Railway Station, according to english.eastday.com.
