CSR Wins Indian Metro Rail Contract

CSR Zhuzhou Locomotive will provide 15 metro vehicles for the Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon project in New Delhi, India.

The China-based company has signed a purchase and sales contract with German-based railway engineering company Siemens for the projects.

The vehicles are expected to have a maximum speed of 90km/h, a running speed of 80km/h and a passenger capacity of 1,010 persons per three-car formation.

Multi-compressor air conditioning units and corrosion-resistant aluminuim alloy materials are expected to be used to save up to 20,000KW/h a year.

CSR expects to deliver the first vehicle in November 2011 and all the vehicles by March 2012.
