Arlington Provides Funds for Transit Agency Plan

The Arlington County Board in the US has approved $121.6m in funds to support a $5bn Metro system plan.

The transit agency's upgrade plan includes acquiring rail cars, rehabilitating escalators and upgrading tracks, among other projects.

The agency will rely on federal, state and local funding to carry out its six-year plan, according to washingtonpost.com.

The US county is also planning to fund an interchange at Old Jefferson Davis Highway, scheduled for 2014.
