Australian State Launches Rail Technology Roadmap Study

28 June 2010

The state of Victoria in Australia has launched a rail technology road map study to tap into future export and manufacturing opportunities in the rail industry.

The state government will contribute A$100,000 ($87,164) for the comprehensive study to be developed in partnership with the commonwealth government and other Australian states and territories.

The study will make Victorian rail manufacturers aware of technology and the advanced manufacturing capabilities they will require to remain competitive both locally and globally in long run.

The study will also pinpoint the rail industry's short-term capabilities and long-term opportunities to strengthen local industry in the state.

It will also help the industry to tap into the $38bn Victorian transport plan and help propel the rail and transport manufacturing industry to 2025 and beyond.
