Hitachi and Mitsubishi to Develop Rail Systems

Hitachi and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have entered into an agreement to develop railway systems for the overseas rail market.

The two companies will work together to construct, install, maintain and market solutions for intra-city railway systems.

The companies plan to develop and upgrade social infrastructure supported by an advanced information and telecommunications systems.

Hitachi's strength lies in rolling stock and signalling systems while Mitsubishi Heavy will contribute with its expertise in railway tracks and overall project management.

As a part of the cooperation plan, the two Tokyo headquartered companies will set up a dedicated office in Tokyo next month to merge their overseas railway systems operations.
