Taiwan Forest Railway Sections to Open Soon

18 June 2010

Two sections of the Alishan Forest Railway in Taiwan will open to traffic on 19 June this year.

The Zhushan Sunrise-Watching Line and the Divine Tree Line are expected to resume service following the first-phase restoration of the railway.

The entire 71.4km railway line is expected to open by the end of 2011 after all three phases of railway repair are completed.

The Alishan Forest Railway was closed down due to massive flooding and landslides, which washed away tracks in more than 400 places, according to focustaiwan.tw.
