Bombardier Transportation has received orders from Metrolinx to supply 182 light rail vehicles for Toronto, Canada.
The $745m contract is intended to support Metrolinx's 5 in 10 plan and expand public transit in the Canadian city.
The Bombardier Flexity vehicles use low-floor light rail technology, are 28m long and 2.65m wide, and can accommodate 280 passengers.
The five-module bi-directional vehicles feature a step-less interior for easy accessibility, a regenerative braking system, and will also provide locations for wheelchairs and strollers.
The agreement is also expected to allow orders for another extra 118 vehicles at a later date.
The vehicles will be delivered between 2013 and 2020, according to the company.
