Florida to Buy Corridor for Trenton-Newberry Rail Trail Project

14 June 2010

The US state of Florida will acquire a 9.33-mile corridor for the Trenton-Newberry Rail Trail project.

The corridor will extend the 31.7-mile Nature Coast State Trail, part of Florida's Statewide Greenways and Trails System.

Beginning in Trenton, the rail project will end about three miles from Newberry town, according to wctv.tv.

The extension of the multi-use state trail is expected to increase connectivity to rural and underdeveloped areas.

The project will be funded by the DEP Office of Greenways & Trails Florida Forever acquisition funding and the Trust for Public Land.
