Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and France's Alstom will jointly bid for the Rs140bn ($3bn) Chennai metro rail project in India.
The 45km rail project is expected to link the two corridors in the state of Tamil Nadu and will partially run underground.
BHEL chairman and managing director, BP Rao, said the equity participation by both firms is yet to be finalised.
BHEL and Alstom will provide the machinery for the project, according to thehindu.com.
Government-owned Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Limited will execute the project.
