Tri-Nation Cargo Rail to Begin Operations in August

The tri-nation cargo rail system between Iran, Turkey and Pakistan will begin regular operations from 1 August 2010.

Starting in Istanbul, the first cargo train will travel from the Turkish capital to Islamabad, Pakistan, according to presstv.ir.

The initial Istanbul-Islamabad trip is expected to be followed by regular cargo trains between the three countries.

Pakistani Minister of Railways Haji Gholam Ahmed Billour said Pakistan is looking at expanding its rail communications with Iran and Turkey.
