China has produced its fastest high-speed train with a maximum operating speed of 380km/h.

The 380A locomotive, manufactured in Changchun, Jilin, is expected to run for the first time on the Beijing to Shanghai high-speed railway when it opens in 2011.

The train was produced by Changchun Railway Vehicles, a subsidiary of state-owned China CNR Corporation.

China's Ministry of Railways has signed a deal to buy 100 380A locomotives from China CNR, according to news.xinhuanet.com.
