Construction of a light rail line extension in the US state of North Carolina may face delays due to a lack of funds.
The 11-mile Blue Line extension is expected to start from uptown Charlotte and end near the University of North Carolina.
Transit authorities said the extension could be funded by 50% federal and 25% state funding with the remaining 25% coming from the city's transit tax.
The existing two-car south corridor line stations are expected to be upgraded to fit the extensions planned three-car stations.
Last year, planners expected the rail project to be complete between 2016 and 2019, according to charlotte.news14.com.
The cost of the extension, touted to be around $1.1bn, has not been disclosed.
