Saudi Arabia is planning to set up a railway station in the capital city of Riyadh.

The proposed 50,000ft² railway station will be located near King Khaled International Airport and is expected to serve 800,000 commuters every year.

The station will be the terminus for a proposed 1,000km high-speed route in the Emirate.

The SAR16bn ($4bn) railway station is expected to be ready by 2013, according to arabnews.com.

The rail line is expected to connect Gulf Cooperation Council countries with the Kingdom and Saudi Arabia with Europe via Jordan, Syria and Turkey.
