East London Line Extension Opens to Public

The UK's East London line extension to West Croydon in the south of the capital has begun operations.

Construction of the line is estimated to have cost £1bn ($1.4bn) with an additional £500m ($723m) spent on acquiring 57 trains.

The 14-mile extension is expected to run to Dalston in north London and will be part of the city's tube network, according to thisiscroydontoday.co.uk.
