NCC Awarded Swedish Rail Contract

25 May 2010

NCC Construction Sweden has secured a contract from the Swedish Transport Administration to renovate Umeå Central Station.

Work will involve constructing two new platforms and an 80m-long concrete tunnel, and installing soundproofing for the Haga district, according to NCC.

The project is estimated to cost SKr240m ($70m) with work scheduled to begin this year and completion expected in 2012.

The move is expected to facilitate the increase in passenger traffic generated by the Bothnia Line in northern Sweden.
