Skanska Wins US Rail Tunnel Contract

Skanska has won a contract to build a rail tunnel in New York, US.

The $52m contract involves the construction of the Palisades twin-tunnel as part of the Trans-Hudson Express project.

The Palisades Tunnel comprises twin, 1,600m-long tunnels.

The design/build contract is being performed by Skanska USA Civil as part of the consortium.

Sweden-based Skanska has a 20% share while Schiavone and Shea hold 50% and 30%, respectively, in the $258m contract.

The project will be completed in December 2013.
